PC Maintenance and Security Lab

I found it difficult to find relevant tutorials because most of them are for using PCs.  Since I'm on a Mac, these are not applicable.  The three tutorials that I chose were
  1. Explaining What Firewalls Do and Don't Do
  2. Learning About ActiveX controls - I chose this because ActiveX is often a pop-up warning I get from my browser when I'm at certain sites and never really understood what it was.  I knew it had something to do with interactive features of websites but was surprised to find that it could also be a pathway for Trojans or other Malware to be installed.
  3. Exploring the Settings of FireFox - I learned about Master Password.  In theory, I like this idea.  However, in practice not so much.  The whole idea of having my passwords saved is to make it so I don't have to type anything in.  With the master password, anytime you start a new session and utilize a saved password, you have to enter in your master.  However, if I were lending my computer out to someone, I would probably put this in place beforehand so they can't access my personal information.  Therefore, I may share this information with others.
