After exploring the Wiki lab and editing on Wikipedia, I found that Wiki Markup was much more difficult to use than regular HTML. This could be due to the fact that I have a decades experience with HTML and haven't used Wiki Markup before. However, it just seemed less intuitive. That being said, I created a page for my school, Thurston Elementary School. I also tried to link to it through related articles like Ann Arbor Public Schools, Clague Middle School, and Thurston (list).
The page I created looks like this:
I tried adding important information about the school as well as unique characteristics of it such as the Thurston Players and the filming of the movie, Flipped.
I wasn't able to access PBWorks. It seems to have solely gone to being a program that requires a district/company/school contract. However, I did create a WikiSpace. I was rather unimpressed with WikiSpaces. Most of the capabilities of a Wiki can also be done in Google Docs. The one thing that would have made it more interesting would be the ability to embed a Pinterest board into the Wiki. Although Pinterest could be set up to act like a Wiki where anyone can contribute.
